My name is Bryan Skeen. I am the Training Officer for Hampshire Search & Rescue (www.hantsar.org). We are a self-funded volunteer unit who are called upon by the Police to assist them in searching for Vulnerable Missing People in the Hampshire and surrounding areas...
I will be walking the 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago (The Way of St James) starting on 19th May 2012. The initial inspiration for this trip was a personal one, whilst also giving me an opportunity to raise some much needed funds for Hampshire Search & Rescue.
I’m making the trip solo in the hope that I’ll meet other Pilgrims along the way. I will be starting at St Jean Pied de Port, in Southern France and concluding my 500 mile pilgrimage at Santiago de Compostela, North West coast of Spain.
I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to make this trip of a lifetime and I can only thank my wife for this as she has granted me a travel pass for 6 weeks so I can take in the whole experience at my own pace with a view to take the odd day off to see some of the outstanding historical sites…
My aim is to raise £1,000 for Hampshire Search and Rescue, so that it can be put to good use within the charity and assist them in the valuable work that they do in saving the lives of vulnerable missing people. If you would like to support me in my 500 mile walk, then please make a donation to Hampshire Search and Rescue through my link below:
Thank You for your support.
On Friday 18th November, Vice-Chair Tony Privett and Fundraising Coordinator Pam Skeen attended the Eastleigh Carnival Association’s Presentation Evening, where they were presented with a cheque for £2,000. The money will be used to purchase a defribrillator and water safety equipment for the team. Our Thanks goes to the Eastleigh Carnival Association’s Committee and to all that took part and supported this year’s carnival, without whom this fantastic donation would not have been possible.
Well what a weekend that was! Six members from HANTSAR attended the ALSAR National Conference in Newport Pagnell and have an excellent, informative and sociable weekend.
